Akani Simbine has won the men’s 100m title at the ASA Senior Track and Field Championships in Tshwane.

Akani Simbine, the national record holder in the event, posted 9.99 to claim victory ahead of Gift Leotlela (10.16) while Thembo Monoreng (10.33) took third in what was a slow-run race.

Simbine had posted a wind-assisted 9.82 in the semi-finals.

The national record remains the 9.89 that Simbine ran nearly five years ago in Hungary.

Meanwhile, Reabetse Moloi won the women’s 100m in a time of 11.55.
