Films based on historical characters and events usually face some protest or hindrance from certain sections of people. Jodha Akbar and Padmaavat both had faced it in the past. Now looks like Akshay Kumar’s next – a film based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan too is facing the people’s ire. According to reports on an online portal, the film has come under the scanner in Chandigarh.
Akshay Kumar and YRF teamed up after a long time for a larger than life historical film based on the great warrior king. However in Chandigarh the film faced a strong demonstration led by Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha who demanded an addition to the title to the film. Currently while the film’s name is Prithviraj, they want the title to do full justice to the king and the film to be named as ‘Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’ or ‘Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan’.
The reports also suggest that they have also demanded that the film be shown to the representative of the organisation before its release. They want to make sure that the filmmaker does not tamper with the history of the king. During the demonstration, not only slogans were shouted but also the film’s director, producer and Akshay Kumar’s dummies got burnt.
The film marks the debut of Manushi Chillar and is directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
