Aldi lifts restrictions on some popular items

Aldi supermarkets has announced it is lifting some product restrictions for Australian shoppers.

While limits are still in place for highly coveted items like toilet paper, hand sanitisers, eggs, dry pasta and flour, restrictions have been lifted on UHT milk, microwave rice, canned foods and sugar.

In a statement, Aldi said it had worked closely with business partners over the past weeks to get as much product back on the shelves as possible.

It said this was also a sign of customers "respecting and adapting to the restrictions".

Limits were put in place when shoppers began panic-buying over fears the coronavirus would mean necessities would disappear.

Aldi did warn that a suspension on change of mind refunds remains in place until further notice for any of the sought-after items.

There are also still limits in place for liquor purchases at certain stores.

The news comes after Coles and Woolworths announced they have resumed online and pick up deliveries, after hiring more staff and drivers to meet increased demand.
