Scarlett Johansson Confirms ‘Black Widow’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Connection

Scarlett Johansson Confirms ‘Black Widow’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Connection

Scarlett Johansson has confirmed a particular connection between Avengers: Infinity War and her upcoming solo film, Black Widow.

The road to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow film has been a long one. Since the release of the first Avengers film back in 2012, many wondered why the character hadn’t gotten her own movie. Eventually, the solo film went into production only for it to be delayed once again by the Covid-19 pandemic for over a year. When the first trailer was released, however, fans spotted something rather troubling in it.

Sony Says ‘Morbius’ Isn’t In The MCU Despite Tyrese Gibson Comments

In Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow’s look was very different from her appearance in previous films, with blond hair and a different jacket. Fans eventually noticed that Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova wore a similar jacket in the trailer that Scarlett Johansson wore in Avengers: Infinity War and thought that it might be the same one. Now Scarlett Johansson has confirmed this to be the case.

While speaking to ComicBook.com, Scarlett Johansson was asked about the jacket in the Black Widow trailers and confirmed it was the same but didn’t give any hints as to what this could mean for Pugh’s character:

“Well it actually is an important thing. It seems very superficial, but it actually is very unique, it’s a very meaningful thing. That’s totally a Kevin Feige thing. He loves all of that backstory stuff and things that connect characters to one another.

When we designed then, it was really just a different look for the character, but it’s fun how Kevin’s mind works in this – he’s like an imagineer in that way, where he thinks of all the little hidden things that people will give, things that are seemingly innocuous, some heart. It’s an heirloom, it becomes an heirloom in this unexpected, funny way.”

What do you all think of Scarlett Johansson’s comments? Could this passing on of this jacket spell doom for Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
