Ashley Yoder vs. Vanessa Demopoulos set for Jan. 15 UFC event

MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Yoder (8-8) will fight Vanessa Demopoulos (6-4) in a strawweight bout at an upcoming UFC event on Jan. 15. The matchup was first reported by MMA DNA. Yoder also announced via social media that she has signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC. “The Spider Monkey” is coming off of back-to-back losses to former Invicta FC champions Jinh Yu Frey and Angela Hill. A cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 23, Yoder has gone the distance in all 10 of her UFC appearances, but has struggled to win on the scorecards. Her UFC record currently sits at 3-7. Demopoulos, a former Legacy Fighting Alliance strawweight champion, seeks her first UFC win. She made her UFC debut in August as a short-notice opponent in a flyweight bout against JJ Aldrich and subsequently lost a unanimous decision. The Jan. 15 is expected to be headlined by a featherweight bout between Giga Chikadze and Calvin Kattar. A location is yet to be announced for the event.
