‘Batwoman’ Showrunner Confirms Season 2 Villain For Ruby Rose Series

The showrunner behind Batwoman confirmed who Ruby Rose will go up against in the show’s second season.

While there have been whispers throughout the first season of Batwoman of a new villain waiting in the wings, the showrunner behind the Ruby Rose series has confirmed who Kate Kane will face off against in the second season. Comic book fans might remember the storyline involving the Many Arms of Death, a terrorist group of pirates led by Safiyah Sohail, the former ruler of a pirate nation called Coranya. Kate and Safiyah were together before the latter became a terrorist leader.

Ruby Rose’s ‘Batwoman’ Reveals First Look At Batman Villain Hush

Although Kate hasn’t had a relationship with Safiyah in the series so far, Batwoman has briefly teased Safiyah’s arrival in the Arrowverse after Julia Pennyworth revealed that the villain knows about Kate’s alter-ego. Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries told ComicBook.com that she loves the Safiyah storyline from the comics and didn’t want to waste her in a small appearance during the first season. She explained they wanted to set her up to be the next big bad.

“We know viewers are like, ‘This show is only missing one thing, and it’s lesbian pirates’. I love the Safiyah storyline in the comics, and we knew we wanted to bring her in at some point. But we didn’t want to waste her or blow out her character in Season 1 when there are all these other hijinks happening. So we’re really kind of teeing her up to be our baddie in Season 2.”

Ruby Rose’s ‘Batwoman’ Reveals What Happened To The Arrowverse’s Joker

Here’s the synopsis for the next episode of Batwoman finale “A Secret Kept From All The Rest”:

“O, MOUSE!” – When one of Gotham’s former heroes returns to his old stomping grounds to settle a score, both Batwoman (Ruby Rose) and Commander Kane (Dougray Scott) find themselves on the defensive. Meanwhile, Alice (Rachel Skarsten) has uncovered what could finally take down Batwoman, but she is losing hold on her henchman Mouse (guest star Sam Littlefield) and Hush (guest star Gabriel Mann), sending her spiraling into her most wicked self. Luke (Camrus Johnson) immediately focuses on finding a way to protect Batwoman from Alice, and Mary (Nicole Kang) has a chance to be the sister Kate has needed all along. New information surfaces, forcing Julia (guest star Christina Wolfe) to warn Sophie (Meagan Tandy) about the person pulling the strings. And in a final standoff, when Commander Kane refuses to retreat from his war on Batwoman, Kate may find herself more than heartbroken by her father’s choices. Amanda Tapping directed the episode written by Holly Henderson and Don Whitehead (#120).

John Oliver Takes Shot At ‘Avengers’ Star Jeremy Renner’s Album

John Oliver recently took aim at Avengers star Jeremy Renner when defending the United States Postal Service.

In a recent segment looking at the effects of modern technology on the USPS, John Oliver saw a chance to take shots at Jeremy Renner’s musical efforts. The host was pointing out the number of ways that the Postal Service has been affected by society’s shift to email and digital communication over the years. Oliver went on to say that the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act severely damaged the USPS after putting a price-cap on first class mail and even requiring it to prepay its employees health benefits.

The host expressed the importance of physical mail by taking aim at Jeremy Renner’s 2020 album, The Medicine. Oliver explained that although we can buy medicine online, we can’t download it before strongly advising viewers not to download the Avengers star’s album.

“While you might be able to buy medicine online, you can’t actually download medicine from the internet. To clarify, you can download ‘The Medicine,’ Jeremy Renner’s collection of music-like noises, from the internet. But, and this is very important, you shouldn’t do that.”
