New boss Julian Nagelsmann worked with Werner at RB Leipzig and brought the best out of the striker as he contributed towards 48 goals in 45 games under Nagelsmann’s management.

A departure from Stamford Bridge could be on the cards for the 25-year-old and he appears to be open to a move back to Germany.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, and .

The German knows that the club are openly searching for a new talisman, as owner Roman Abramovich has put £150m aside to land the Norwegian sensation.

Due to this, Werner’s agent has ‘touched base’ with Dortmund to inform them that his player would be open joining, according to .

Inter slap eye-watering price tag on Chelsea target

Chelsea will have to submit an offer of at least £102.5m if they are to resign Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports.

The Belgian, who was in 2014, has excelled at Inter Milan, scoring 64 goals in 95 appearances following his move from Manchester United in 2019.

As a result, Lukaku has emerged as a potential transfer target for the Blues, who are in the market for a striker after Timo Werner’s disappointing debut campaign.

, though, Inter want to keep hold of their talisman – despite their precarious financial situation – and would demand a nine-digit fee if any club was intent on prising him away.

Lukaku is also keen on staying put, telling VTM before the start of Euro 2020: “Yes, I am staying, I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager [Simone Inzaghi]. Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet… but it was a very positive conversation.”

Chelsea’s first choice had initially been Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, but their prospects of signing him are thought to have diminished after having an £130m bid rejected by the German side.

Haaland, who hit 41 goals in 41 appearances last season, is valued at £150m, and recently indicated that he would remain at Dortmund for the upcoming campaign after revealing he was “looking forward to working” with new head coach Marco Rose.

“I talked a little bit with him,” . “I know him from before because I had six months with him in Salzburg. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.

“The training is so hard here, so it’s exactly the same as it was in Salzburg, a lot of hard training and there is going to be a lot of running. That’s what I expect the tactic to be to press a lot, run a lot and attack a lot.

“Now we have to have a good pre-season and have to get to know each other and we will see.

“We won the DFB Pokal last season which was very important for us as a club and the fans. That was important and we have to see.”
