Despite COVID-19, quarantine and social distancing trying to ruin 2020 plans, this year has been a busy one for the Latin music industry. Many artists, including some of the top-notch in Regional Mexican, have even blessed fans with new albums, because let’s face it, music is not canceled.

With 2020 in full swing, Billboard highlights 10 Regional Mexican albums that have debuted on the Top Latin Albums chart this year.

Four of them entered the top 10, including Alejandro Fernandez’s Hecho en México which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated Feb. 29, 2020. With his new coronation, Fernández became the first act to achieve No. 1s on Top Latin Albums in the 1990s, ‘00s, ‘10s, and ‘20s.

The trap corrido movement is also killing the game with Fuerza Regida’s Adicto debuting at No. 4 on the chart dated April 25, 2020. Junior H at No. 5 with Atrapado en un Sueño on the April 11-survey, and Eslabon Armado’s debut set Tu Veneno Mortal debuting at No. 9 on the May 16-dated chart.

On Regional Mexican Albums: Debuted at No. 3 on the chart dated Feb. 29.

Mas Caro, Que Ayer – Gerardo Ortiz (BadSin Entertainment / Sony Music Latin)

On Top Latin Albums: Gerardo Ortiz’s Mas Caro, Que Ayer debuted at No. 39 on the chart dated March 7.

On Regional Mexican Albums: Debuted at No. 7 on the chart dated March 7.

Sorry for the Wait – Herencia de Patrones (Rancho Humilde / Lumbre Music)

On Top Latin Albums: Herencia de Patrones’ Sorry for the Wait (EP) debuted at No. 14 on the chart dated March 28.

On Regional Mexican Albums: Debuted at No. 2 on the chart dated March 28.

Atrapado en un Sueño – Junior H (Rancho Humilde / Z Records)

Adicto – Fuerza Regida (Rancho Humilde / Lumbre Music)

Tu Veneno Mortal - Eslabon Armado (DEL Records)

On Top Latin Albums: Eslabon Armado’s Tu Veneno Mortal debuted at No. 9 on the chart dated May 16.

On Regional Mexican Albums: Debuted at No. 2 on the chart dated May 16.

Corridos Tumbados, Vol. 2 – Natanael Cano (Rancho Humilde)

On Top Latin Albums: Natanael Cano & Various Artists’ Corridos Tumbados, Vol. 2 debuted at No. 13 on the chart dated June 13.

On Regional Mexican Albums: Debuted at No. 3 on the chart dated June 13.

AYAYAY! – Christian Nodal (Fonovisa / Universal Music Mexico)

On Top Latin Albums: Christian Nodal’s AYAYAY! (EP) debuted at No. 15 on the chart dated June 13.
