Chelsea set Kante asking price to try and fund summer transfers

Chelsea have reportedly set an official asking price for French midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Kante has enjoyed a successful time at Stamford Bridge following his move from Leicester City back in 2016.

He’s established himself as one of the best ball-winning midfielders in the world and as a reliable player for the Blues.

He’s won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europea League during his time in the capital.

However, manager Frank Lampard is in the middle of a squad revamp and looks set to let the player leave this summer.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea have set a £60 million asking price for the player.

Lampard has apparently been told by club bosses that he needs to offload before he can bring any more players in.

This means the money for Kante would help to raise transfer funds for targets Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Kante had a troublesome time during the most recent campaign. He spent much of the season on the sidelines with ankle and hamstring injuries.

The injuries mean Kante is out of favour at Chelsea, having been replaced by Jorginho, Matteo Kovacic and Mason Mount in a midfield three.

Lampard’s continued interest in Rice means Kante might have played his final game in a Blues shirt.

Rice is touted as a future Chelsea legend at either defensive midfield or centre back. The 21-year-old is already an England international and is also best mates with current player Mount.

A deal taking Kante away from Stamford Bridge might come as a shock to come Chelsea fans. He’s been a loyal servant to the club and has regularly proven his worth on the pitch.

However, Lampard’s goal of catching Liverpool and Man City means he needs to raise funds as quickly as possible.

With a potential frontline of Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic and Havertz, Chelsea could be well on their way to catching up with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Neymar and Di Maria contact Messi about potential PSG move

PSG players Neymar and Angel Di Maria have been in contact with Lionel Messi about a move to France, according to sources.

Messi is currently in the midst of a huge transfer debacle after he submitted a transfer request earlier this week.

The 33-year-old wants to leave Barcelona after seeing the club’s decline in the past few seasons.

They’ve now got an ageing squad and have fallen behind European rivals Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG in the Champions League.

And now two important PSG players are trying to convince him to move to PSG, according to Marca (via Mirror).

Neymar and Di Maria are believed to have talked with the playmaker about a potential move to Paris.

They want Messi to finish his career in Ligue 1, which would help the club massively in their pursuit of Champions League glory.

The players might have a strong influence over Messi, too. Neymar and Messi are close friends following their spell at the Nou Camp together between 2013 and 2017.

Di Maria plays for Argentina with Messi and will also have a good relationship with the captain.

The news means PSG could emerge as strong rivals to Man City for the player’s signature.

City were thought to be the frontrunners thanks to Messi’s admiration for Pep Guardiola. However, PSG director Leonardo Araujo has admitted to holding talks with Barca chiefs.

Juventus are also looking at signing the player. A move to Turin would see Messi play alongside fellow legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

One stumbling bock for a summer transfer is Messi’s contract.

He believes he can leave for free this summer due to a clause in his contract. But the club thinks this has expired, meaning a buyer would have to pay over £600 million.

It looks like there will be stiff competition to sign Messi this summer.
