Morgan said that he had an open conversation with Root about his future in the shortest format. He has cleared that Root was not fitting in England’s playing XI of the T20 format so it would be wrong to include him in the squad without giving a match.

“We’ve spoken to Joe and he certainly does have a future. The conversation was surrounding Joe not getting into the best 11 at the moment, but also we didn’t want to carry him around and not play any cricket,” Eoin Morgan told reporters ahead of Friday’s series opener in Southampton.

Eoin Morgan added that it would be better to release Root to allow him to play for Yorkshire in county cricket rather than staying with the squad.

“Joe wants to play T20 cricket and put his best case forward, particularly when he doesn’t have a lot of opportunity to go back to Yorkshire and play T20 cricket. We felt this was a really good opportunity to do that.”

However, England’s , Joe Root, is included in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Australia set to start from 11th September.

Eoin Morgan said that the No. 1 T20I team Australia has the strongest squad and would play with their best 11 against England.

“They have their strongest squad here and so will probably be putting in their best 11,” Morgan said.

On being asked about playing without the crowd, he said that the lack of fans would not affect them in any way

“I don’t think it bothers them. Some guys really enjoy playing away from home,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan-led side after playing the three-match T20I series will play the ODI series which will end on 16th September.
