Going into the encounter against France, Ronaldo was sitting on 107 international goals, meaning he was two goals shy of Daei’s long-standing record.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man turned the screws as he made no mistake on two separate occasions from the spot to eventually equal the Hungarian’s record.

With Portugal still in the Euro having qualified for the Knockout stages, Ronaldo stands a good chance of setting a new record.

Furthermore, Ronaldo, who has scored five goals at this year’s Euro games, is the competition’s all-time goalscorer with 14 strikes from 24 games.
