Aint’nodeeldun came into the race as the almost unbackable favourite – one of the shortest-priced favourites in any Flemington race today. After Ultimate Edition raced out to a huge early lead, the rest of the chasing pack caught up easily and surpassed in the home stretch. Confrontational pushed the favourite all the way, ultimately falling short by a head, while Grizinger Lord took out third in a photo finish.

Melbourne Cup 2020 final field: all the horses, jockeys, trainers and more

Working out which horses qualify for the Melbourne Cup field is a long and complicated process, but we finally have our final field for the 2020 edition.

UPDATE: King Of Leogrance has been a race-day scratching, ruled out in the early morning following a vet’s inspection. The Danny O’Brien-trained horse presented a lame off foreleg, and the field has been reduced to 23 runners as a result.

Last year’s winner, Vow And Declare, is back again and will start the race from barrier number four. It won last year from barrier 21. Last year’s runner-up, Prince Of Arran, is also present and will try to go one better from barrier one.

Other recent Group 1 winners in the field include Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet coming out of barrier 14 and Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant out of barrier 15.

The favourite, however, is Tiger Moth out of barrier 23.

Here, you can view the full and final field for the 2020 Melbourne Cup, including every horse’s jockey and trainer, and the barriers they will start from.
