Harness racing selections: Tuesday, April 20

Two meetings to look this Tuesday, with my attention being at Albion Park and Tabcorp Park Menangle.

The best bets for the respective programs are down below.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 4 Number 1 Aunty Bella
She was on her back when she won last Tuesday and I’m happy to butter up again. She did all the work in the run last week and was there to be run down but found plenty when required and on the line, she was the strongest. From the pole, she’ll have little trouble holding the lead and should prove hard to get past.

Next-best: Race 6 Number 8 Manila Playboy
A quality three-year-old that should resume a winner. He did a really good job in his juvenile season, winning four of ten, and last start was far from disgraced in a Group ll at Menangle. He’s drawn inside the second row so he will need luck, but if he gets it his class will get him home.

Value: Race 5 Number 1 Aye Aye Captain
Likely to be double figures, he’s worth an each-way bet. He ran last Tuesday in an APG Heat. Just found the class a bit rich in a sit/sprint but still ran third. He should get a near identical run to last week, trailing Frontliner, and hopefully with a more genuine tempo he can finish off his race better.

Tabcorp Park Menangle

Best bet: Race 5 Number 3 Jay Ok
Expensive Ego should be winning but likely at $1.10, so the bet is Jay Ok to place. He was good without threatening during the four-year-old series during the recent carnival at Menangle. He has enough gate speed to cross early then land the sit behind Expensive Ego and from there should run top three.

Next-best: Race 6 Number 4 Pelosi
She should be taking this out. She contested the recent Riverina Series at Wagga where she was brilliant in a heat win, but come the final she didn’t measure up at all. This looks like a welcomed drop in grade/depth for this mare, she has the gate speed to find the front and prove hard to get past.

Value: Race 2 Number 3 Puma Road
He was on his back last Tuesday and I thought he was going well enough to win. That was until he broke stride and galloped on the turn, but he was trucking into the race. His manners are hit and miss but if he does everything right, he’s going to run a big race at a likely decent price.
