Hopefully You’ll See Me In Action Very Soon: Deepak Chahar Delivers Update On His Health

Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Deepak Chahar on Tuesday handed a huge boost to his franchise by delivering a positive update about his health. The right-arm pacer was one of the 13 members from the Chennai Super Kings camp who had tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19 last week. Along with him, batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was tested positive too while others were non-playing members of the team.

Deepak Chahar took to social media to give his fans and followers the update, saying he is “recovering well” and is “hoping to return to action soon”. He posted a video to give the update and also thanked his fans and followers for their love. He was seen doing leg exercises in the video as he urged his followers to never miss ‘your leg day no matter where you are and what condition you are’.

“Thank you all for your love and prayers..I am better now and trying my best to keep myself fit..hopefully you will see me in action very soon..Keep showering your love and never miss your leg day. #ipl #legday #ipl2020 #recovery (sic),” Deepak Chahar said in his post.

In another boost for Chennai Super Kings, all of their players and staff members, except the 13 who had tested positive, have tested negative for COVID-19. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the news on Tuesday. The result comes after CSK members underwent the 1st of their additional 2 Covid-19 tests on Monday.

The latest development must be a welcome news for CSK who have suffered several setbacks since landing in UAE. Apart from their members testing positive, their batting mainstay Suresh Raina has left the team too and has returned to India citing personal reasons. He will miss the entire competition. IPL 2020 is scheduled to start on September 19.

CPL 2020: JT vs TKR – Knight Riders extend domination with a winning streak

The Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) could not stop the Trinbago Knight Riders’ (TKR) juggernaut in the 21st game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 on Tuesday. The match was held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

JT captain Rovman Powell won the toss and backed his team to chase down the total set by the Knight Riders.

Undefeated Knight Riders carried on their onslaught with the bat as they posted a challenging 184 in front of the Tallawahs.

Colin Munro led the charge as he notched up a quickfire 65 which came off just 54 deliveries. His knock was laced with ten boundaries and a maximum.

Munro was well supported by cameos from Sunil Narine (29 off 11 balls) and Kieron Pollard (33* of 16). Barring Sandeep Lamichhane and Mujeeb ur Rahman, none of the JT bowlers threatened to cause problems for TKR.

Chasing 185, the Tallawahs went off to a sluggish start as they failed to counter Narine, who completed a superb spell of bowling upfront.

Fawad Ahmed chipped in with a couple of crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs, to take the game further away from the Tallawahs.

Due to the start received, the likes of Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite (21*) were left with much to do at the backend. The decision to send Russell deep down the order would be scrutinized later.

Moreover, Russell entertained the spectators with an unbeaten 23-ball half-century, which consisted of five fours and four sixes.

In the end, it was a comfortable 19-run win for the Knights, who marched on with a seven-match winning streak.

Kiwi swashbuckler, Munro, was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for setting up the win for his side with the bat.

TKR meet bottom-placed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots next on Wednesday, September 2.
