In the last edition, Malinga played a significant role in MI’s victory. The speedster bowled an excellent spell against CSK in the grand-finale as they won the match by one run.

In that marquee clash, MI didn’t have hope of winning after Shane Warne played outstanding innings. But Malinga’s last over bowling turned the table for the Mumbai based franchise. CSK needed nine runs in that final over but he leaked only seven runs and picked two wickets in that spell. MI went up to lift the coveted trophy for the fifth time.

Mumbai Indians might miss his exploits however the team has other excellent pacers. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, who was traded by MI from Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, along with the fast-bowling allrounder forms lethal bowling set up.

Malinga has played 122 matches and picked 170 wickets.
