‘It’s a big problem’ – Keane questions Kane’s leadership

Roy Keane has claimed that his only issue with England captain Harry Kane is that he is not a good leader for his country.

Kane has been capped 54 times by England and in that time, he has scored 34 goals. He was made captain of The Three Lions ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The forward scored six goals to win the tournament’s Golden Boot award as England reached the semi-finals.

The star is set to captain England at his second major tournament this summer.

In the lead up to the competition, there has been a lot of talk about Kane’s future. He has told Spurs that he wants to leave so he has a better chance of winning team trophies.

The United legend is currently appearing in  video series. During the latest episode, Keane suggested that Kane’s lack of leadership is his only “negative” as a player:

“The only thing I’d hold against Kane – there’s a big negative I have towards Kane.

“I think is an amazing player. I think every club should be trying to sign him. Man United have got to sign him, I don’t care if it’s £120 million – sign him.

“But I don’t think he’s a good leader. I never see him digging anyone out when he was at Spurs. I know people might go, ‘Well that’s not in his personality’, or ‘He might do it in the dressing room’. I don’t think he does, and that’s a big problem.

“OK, you can lead with your brilliant play, but sometimes I think I want to see another side to Kane.

“I’d love to see him get hold of somebody, and I’m on about Spurs – some players have been really poor or downing tools for certain managers. I never saw Kane digging them out.

‘So that’s my only hang-up with Kane as a leader and a captain.”

Ex-Spurs defender urges Levy to ‘spend money’ this summer

Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton has encouraged Daniel Levy to “spend money” so the club keep in touch with their ‘big six’ rivals.

Tottenham face an uncertain summer. There are doubts surrounding ‘s future at the club.

The striker recently told Spurs that he wants to leave as he wants to give himself a better chance of winning team trophies.

Spurs are still without a manager but

The former Roma manager left the club at the end of the season and he has been replaced by ex- manager Jose Mourinho.

Hutton has told that Levy must decide where he sees Spurs going in the next few years:

“There’s no taking it away, [Levy’s] side of it is the business side. He’s done unbelievably well when it comes to the marketing, the stadium, amazing.

“But as a chairman, where do you see the club going? What do you want from the club? Do you want to be challenging for the Premier League? Do you want to be challenging for the top four, or do you want to be there just for the Europa League? Where do you want to be?

“If it is challenging for the top of that league, you have to spend money. Nobody stands still. To have this kind of outlook where we’ve got the best training ground, we’re bringing young boys through, that’s a project.

“We’re going to bring in some youngsters for the future, that’s a five-year project. Antonio Conte is not wanting to do that. He wants to win now, just like Mourinho wanted to win now.

“That’s a question that Daniel Levy is going to have to come out and answer to the fans and everybody involved. Where do you see this team going in the next season or two? If he wants to see it high up, he has to spend money. It’s as simple as that really.”
