Juventus willing to let Ramsey leave for nothing in January

Aaron Ramsey could leave Juventus on a free transfer in January, according to reports.

Ramsey, 31, has played only 78 minutes of Serie A football so far this season, and the Old Lady are keen to get his £400,000-a-week wages off the books.

Since arriving from in 2019, he was won one Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, but his contributions have been few and far between.

He has made just 65 appearances across the past two seasons, with the general consensus being that he is too brittle for the rigours of Italian football. Ramsey has been injured for 140 days since touching down in Turin.

, the Juventus hierarchy are now working on a deal that would see him leave the club for free.

Ramsey’s contract doesn’t expire until June 2023 but the club are so eager to move him on that they will not demand a fee for his services.

West Ham, Everton and Newcastle are all interested in the Welshman, who – at the cost of nothing (barring wages) – could end up being a savvy acquisition.

Ramsey made 371 appearances for the Gunners in his 11-year spell at the club, winning three FA Cups and two Community Shields.

He notched 65 goals and 65 assists across that period and was drawing attention from Liverpool and as recently as last summer.

Max Allegri, though, appeared to suggest that Ramsey would play an important role for Juventus this season after a 2-1 friendly victory over Monza, in which the midfielder performed capably in a holding role.

“The club takes care of the transfer market, we talk every day,” . “Ramsey played very, very well in front of the defence and I think in that role he can really become an important player.

“I salute Miralem [Pjanic, Barcelona midfielder, another club with whom Ramsey was linked], because we spent four years together with great victories. He is a Barcelona player now, we have talented players, and I think if Ramsey can be convinced to play in front of the defence, he can really do well there.

“He already can see passing channels, has a good sense of the geometry of the field and can also rest on the ball more than he does upfront.”

Richards ‘felt sorry’ for Liverpool star during Brentford draw

Former Man City defender Micah Richards “felt a little bit sorry” for Trent Alexander-Arnold during Liverpool’s draw against Brentford on Saturday evening.

Liverpool travelled to face the Bees at The Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday.

‘s side have made a bright start to the new season. Ahead of this weekend, they had won four of their opening five Premier League games.

Brentford took the lead against in the first half through Ethan Pinnock. Diogo Jota hit back moments later as the sides were level at the break.

Liverpool went ahead twice in the second half through Mo Salah and Curtis Jones either side of Vitaly Janelt’s equaliser.

As cited by , Richards said that he felt “sorry” for Alexander-Arnold with him not being supported enough on the right flank:

“I felt a little bit sorry for Alexander-Arnold on the right-hand side,” Richards said.

“Normally you’ve got someone like Fabinho in there. You get him across.

“[Trent] did really well trying to keep inside within the post, his positioning was right, but when you have two or three [Brentford players to deal with] it’s very, very difficult.

“They played the gameplan perfectly. This time it worked for them.”

“I got the ball and came inside and it opened up, so I saw the goal and I just hit it. I was fortunate enough that it went in,” Jones said.

“But I’m disappointed that we never came away with all three points and we’ll definitely be going for them in the next game.

“We came here and we played well but they’re a good side as well, so I thought a draw was actually fair. They’re a very good side, they were hard to play against, so fair play to Brentford.

“That’s what happens, you know – it’s the Premier League and the teams are all good. If you’re not at 100 per cent, you get punished.”
