Mick Jagger Narrates New Short Film Celebrating London's Royal Albert Hall

The historic venue is 150 years old...Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger has stepped in to narrate a short film about London's Royal Albert Hall. The historic venue turned 150 this year, with its birthday falling on March 29th. Sadly, due to lockdown the venue has been largely shut for the past 12 months, a rare period of silence that even the Blitz couldn't accomplish. New short film Your Room Will Be Ready is a beautifully pieced together mini-documentary on the Royal Albert Hall, a 90 second salute to its history. Amongst the 40 archival clips on display - moving from Einstein and Churchill through to Hendrix, Adele, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, and more - Mick Jagger reads from W.H. Auden's work For Friends Only. Directed by BAFTA-nominee Tom Harper, it's an affecting tribute to a much-loved venue, and to the continuing power of live performance. Sir Mick said: “Without doubt the Royal Albert Hall is one of the greatest concert venues in the world and so I was delighted to be asked to read a short poem by W.H. Auden as part of this excellent short film by Tom Harper.” “I have some wonderful memories of performing there with the Stones in the 1960s when once or twice it did get a bit wild, with enthusiastic fans joining us onstage and almost bringing the show to an abrupt end – but we soldiered on and had a great time.” Watch the film below.
