New twist in Njabulo Ngcobo’s potential move to Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in highly-rated Swallows FC centre-back Njabulo Ngcobo has been addressed by the player’s agent Sboniso Ngubane.

After heavily been linked with a potential move to Amakhosi, Ngcobo’s agent has confirmed there has been no word from Swallows regarding his client possibly going to Naturena.

According to Ngubane, the lanky defender signed a one-year deal with Swallows but the club has a two-year option to renew it at the end of the season.

Ngubane revealed having a meeting with Swallows where they made their intentions very clear about Ngcobo and his future, adding that the player would have been available on a pre-contract had the club not addressed the issue by the end of March.

“Ngcobo signed a one-year contract with an option for a further two years,” Ngubane told Phakaaathi.

“If you didn’t discuss the terms and fees on the original contract, the club then sits down for discussions again if they want to exercise their option for extension.

“But in our case we discussed everything and all Swallows had to do was announce their intentions,” he said.

“If they hadn’t done that until the end of this month, the player would have become a free agent and any team would’ve been able to snap him up on a free transfer,” explained Ngubane.

While Ngubane admitted there are big plans in the pipeline for Ngcobo as they want him to move to a bigger club, he revealed there have been no talks between Swallows and Chiefs.

Ngubane hopes reports that Swallows would only release Ngcobo if he’s going to Chiefs are true, but he again cautioned that they he has to be involved in negotiations as his representative.

“We have big plans for him that he is party to. Yes, we would have loved to have him move to a bigger team if a chance presents itself, and we are still hopeful that it will happen,” added Ngubane.

“But talks with Swallows have not started as yet. We have heard that the chairman (David Mogashoa) will release him if it is Chiefs who want him.

“We hope that is true and they will engage us before any decision is made,” concluded Ngubane.
