NSW man charged with sexually touching doctor while getting stitches

A man has been charged with allegedly sexually touching a female doctor while she was treating him on NSW's far north coast.

The 35-year-old had been taken to Murwillumbah Hospital for treatment for cuts to his fingers and head at about 11pm last Thursday.

His treating doctor, a 51-year-old woman, determined that he needed sutures and while she was performing the procedure, he allegedly inappropriately touched her several times.

The man was removed by security a short time later and police were notified.

Police arrested the accused at a motel on Minjungbal Drive in Tweed Heads just after 10am yesterday.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he was charged with four counts of sexually touching another person without consent.

He was refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
