Return to racing (ish)

Lockdown is now easing so I was able to get back to do a bit of racing. At the moment I’m gently getting back into it so booked in to a local club that races in a car park. It’s a great friendly pace, and very laid back. Ideal to try to get my eye in and blow some cobwebs of my racing thumbs that have seen very little action. As the surface is not a prepped race track I decided to run a very old TRF417 that has had a hard life before I picked it up. It’s used to test electrics etc in the street, or any in prepped surface and is more of a basher than a race car.I found most of the car, and it was missing the lower deck.. I remembered I removed it a while ago to do some measurements, and found it in my office under some books.I eventually got it all rebuilt, it needs a service as there is lots of play in some of the parts but with 30 mins before I had to leave to get to the club it was all ready (I need to get better at prep)  The car was ok, although the dusty parking lot didn’t give a lot of grip as you would expect.  I couldn’t quite get in top of the set-up. This was due to a range if issues.  I forgot my outdoor additive, I was feeling a bit delicate from the night before and it was so cold I was shaking when trying to wrench.. which made me just decide to run it and try to get my eye in after such a long time without any form of racing. No rain.. just snow!!!Despite the difficulties at the track It was so good to get out and race with buddies after all this time. It just reminds me how much I bloody love racing, Next up, hitting a proper track with the TRF420 and seeing if the trick new part works ???? #Tamiya #Tamiyarc #Thercracer
