Silk Sonic Gets the Groove Going With ‘Skate’: Watch

Silk Sonic gets the smooth rolling with “Skate,” their second release.

The soulful duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak came together earlier this year for “Leave The Door Open,” a warm and fuzzy tune which led the Billboard Ho 100 chart.

Since then, Silk Sonic have showed their stuff in a live context at the Grammy Awards, the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and the BET Awards, where they were nominated for three trophies (video of the year, best group, and viewer’s choice).

It also reached the summit on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, becoming the fastest to reach the No. 1 spot by male artists in the chart’s history.

A studio album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, is said to be coming soon-ish.

“Skate” is another funky throwback ‘70s vibe.  On it, Mars sings, “Got your hair in the wind and your skin glistening/ I can smell your sweet perfume/ Mmmm, ya smell better than a barbecue/ Oh, superstar is what you are/ I’m your biggest fan/ If you’re lookin’ for a man, suga, here I am.”

“Skate” is accompanied with a music video, directed by Mars and Florent Dechard.

Halsey Announces Cities & Dates for ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ IMAX Film Along With Godly New Trailer

Halsey is offering up another look at their upcoming If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power IMAX film in a new trailer — as well as another listen to her album of the same name.

The second trailer, which premiered Thursday (July 29), is called the “woman/god trailer,” and it’s soundtracked by a song with the powerful lyrics: “I am not a woman, I’m a god/ I am not a model, I’m a problem/ I am not a legend, I’m a fraud.”

Halsey wrote the film experience set to the music of their fourth studio album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which is produced by the Oscar- and Grammy-winning duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails. Colin Tilley, who has helmed music videos for Halsey’s Billboard Hot 100-topping single “Without Me” as well as “You Should Be Sad,” directed the IMAX film.

The hourlong film will hit select IMAX theaters in the U.S. on Aug. 25 and internationally on Aug. 26, for one night only, ahead of the album’s Aug. 27 release. Find a full list of cities where the IMAX movie will play below the trailer. Tickets go on sale Aug. 3.
