Popular Tamil actor Vivekh, famous for his comedic roles, passed away this morning at 4:45am at a hospital in Chennai. The actor was shooting for his next untitled film with Legend Saravanan on Friday evening. Post which he reached home and complained of feeling uneasy. He was rushed to the hospital instantly but he reached in an unconscious state. At the hospital, Vivekh was placed under observation in the cath lab with ECMO support. He underwent an angioplasty due to a block in the heart.
A statement had been released by the doctors of the hospital, last evening when his condition turned critical, “Vivekh was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by 11am today to the emergency by the family members. He was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists. Later he underwent Emergency Coronary Angiogram followed by Angioplasty. He is currently in critical condition on ECMO in the Intensive Care Unit.”
There were rumours that the actor was suffering from COVID-19 and hence the complications worsened, but that’s not true. The doctors from the hospital have clarified that Vivekh had a cardiac arrest which was due to a 100 per cent block in the blood vessel. Vivekh is survived by his wife Arulselvi, and two children.
Vivekh had made his debut in 1987 with K Balachander's Manathil Urudhi Vendum and soon became the most popular comedian in Tamil cinema. The actor has worked with almost all the top superstars down South from Rajinikanth to Suriya, from Vijay to Dhanush and from Ajith to Silambarasan. The actor’s wish was to work with Kamaal Haasan and that too fulfilled when he got a chance to work with him in Indian 2. His last release was Dharala Prabhu, starring Harish Kalyan, in 2020. Vivekh has even won the Padma Shri in 2009 from the Government of India for his contribution to the arts and won the Filmfare Award thrice.
