According to Alex McLeish. Everton have been getting some “real bargains” in the transfer market so far, and the “topsy turvy” Demarai Gray is included in them.

The Toffees are now managed by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez. They have been busy in the transfer market over the past few days.

They have expressed interest in , but they have added two players to their squad on free transfers.

They are also close to signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Gray,

The Englishman spent five years at Leicester City before he made the move to the Bundesliga in January. He got one goal and two assists from his 12 outings for the German outfit.

Former Aston Villa boss McLeish has spoken about Gray with . He believes that the attacker must show “consistency” for :

“It’s been a little bit topsy turvy for Demarai.

“The Leicester thing didn’t quite work out. At £1.7million, these are real bargains Everton are getting.

“It’s really strange there’s not a top-dollar signing. I’m going to talk from the perspective of Everton fans.

“They might think: ‘Wait a minute. We can’t say every signing’s going to be an inspirational acquisition.’

“I think the experience they have got in Andros and Demarai, is really good. They’re players who know their way about Premier League pitches.

“Demarai has still got to show he’s got that consistency.

“It will be an interesting signing to see how he can break through into that Everton first XI.”

Earlier this week,

“I’m just surprised it’s only Everton in the running. We’ve seen the ability he has.

“Although he struggled at Leicester, £1.5million is next to nothing for a player who is only 25.

“He is also yet to enjoy his best years of football. He’s been around the Premier League for many years now.

“This signing could really excite the Evertonians if he can get going and show more of the quality he has. The service he will provide for [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin will be fantastic.“

‘World class’ Bielsa ‘should be at Barca’ over Leeds, claims pundit

Marcelo Bielsa “needs a big club” like Barcelona and Leeds United are “very lucky to have him” according to former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara.

The 65-year-old has been in charge of Leeds United since 2018. This appointment was questioned by some at the time, but he has done a phenomenal job.

The White narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League in his first season. They finished third in the Championship before they lost to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals.

Leeds put this right in 2019/20 as they won the Championship title to seal their return to the Premier League.

The Yorkshire outfit took the top flight by storm last season. They eventually finished ninth in the table after a strong end to the campaign.

O’Hara has spoken about Bielsa with on Wednesday. He believes that the boss “needs” a club like Barcelona:

“He needs to be at a big club , doesn’t he? He needs to be at a club like Barcelona let’s be honest.

“Spurs are a bigger club than Leeds… it would be a step up. Jose Mourinho’s not going to go and be Leeds manager, is he?

“I’m not saying Leeds aren’t a big club and I’m not saying Bielsa needs to leave, I’m saying he should be at a club like Barcelona. He’s a great manager and Leeds are very lucky to have him.

“I’d love him at Spurs but he’s never going to leave Leeds to go to Spurs. Not enough ambition at Spurs.

“He’s a world-class manager.

“I think he has a sort of love affair with that club, the town and the fans. They all love him and I think he loves them.

“But if someone like Barcelona, Real Madrid or PSG come knocking, I’m sorry, you’re not staying at Leeds United, you’re going.”

Elsewhere, Perry Groves – who won the First Division title with Arsenal twice between 1988 and 1991 – has praised Kalvin Phillips.

“Kalvin Phillips fits Liverpool perfectly.

“The energy they play with, the closing down, his athleticism, his passing range.

“What would he cost? £100million.”
