Champ Miocic and former two-division champ Cormier meet in a trilogy bout widely billed as a fight to determine the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time. Check out the UFC 252 live blog below. Round 1: Marc Goddard is the third man in the cage for this heavyweight title fight. The fighters touch gloves to kick things off and Miocic leads with a light inside low kick. Miocic is on the outside with DC taking the center but the first minute is very cautious. Good leg kick from Miocic is the first real strike of the fight. Miocic lands a leftt hook but DC snatches a low single and gets a takedown. Miocic is back to his feet but DC is holding the front headlock and lands a good knee. Miocic is stuck there for a few but finally is able to break. DC is clearly coming in with a more measured game plan and Miocic is working the body and legs. Good low kick from DC. Stipe is touching DC and DC lands a big right hand but Miocic eats it. Stipe is looking pretty good here but catches a finger in the eye and Goddard stops it to give Miocic time to recover. Miocic is good to go now and Goddard give Cormier a serious warning. DC apologies to Miocic and they’re back to business. Low kicks land for both men and DC maybe lands low but Miocic keeps fighting. DC lands a hook to the body and a big right hand lands high for Miocic. Miocic is now firing combinations and Cormier is looking lost. Miocic starts stepping in though and DC is landing some big shots inside. The two get into a brawl against the fence and Cormier wobbles Miocic with a big right hook. Miocic keeps his feet and gets to space and the round ends. That right hand may have been enough to steal the round for Cormier. MMAFighting scores the round 10-9 Cormier. Round 2: If Miocic can avoid clinch range, he’s going to cruise to a win but when DC has made it ugly, he’s had a major advantage. Miocic goes for a body kick but ends up landing low. A brief pause to the action and they’re back at it. Miocic blitzes in and lands a lfet hook that gets DC’s attention. And now Stipe threatens a takedown for a moment tot give DC something else to think about. A clinch ensues and Cormier lands three big shots but Miocic eats them. Miocic keeps working the body at range and that’s gonna be a money maker for him. Cormier pressuring and the action is picking up here. Certainly Miocic is picking up his volume and DC is reacting to feints now. A lull in the action in the middle of the round and DC is now pumping a good jab. Good left hook from Miocic. Tactics are changing and this is a real title fight. A clinch occurs and Miocic threatens a trip but doesn’t get it and Miocic is focused on not eating a big shot. DC lands a big right hand. Against, Miocic is landing more but DC is landing the more powerful shots. Good 1-1-2 from DC and now Miocic is pressuring. Miocic rushes forward and lands a right hand that hurts DC!
