Vosloorus man admits to killing girlfriend, selling her car
The Vosloorus man is said to have admitted to the murder of his girlfriend and dumping her body in an open veld in Heidelberg
A 32-year-old Vosloorus man has appeared before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court for the murder of his girlfriend.
“Collaboration between the police and community members led to the arrest of a man suspected to be responsible for the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Vosloorus on the 11 January 2021. The suspect, aged 32, was arrested on Monday 18 January 2021 at his place of residence in Vosloorus,” Gauteng police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubele said.
The woman was reported missing after she failed to return to her home in Alexandra – which she had left to visit the suspect. Makhubele said the man has admitted to killing his girlfriend and dumping her body in an open veld in Heidelberg.
“It is reported that the woman left Alexandra on the 10th of January 2021 to visit her boyfriend who is the father of her two-year-old child. After she did not come back home, the boyfriend indicated that she left (his place to return to her) home but she did not arrive,” he said.
How was the Vosloorus man busted for murder?
The man was implicated after the woman’s car was found with another man who claimed it was sold to him by the suspect.
“The person found in possession of the victim’s car led the police to the boyfriend who sold the car to him. The boyfriend admitted that he killed her, and dumped her in an open space in Heidelberg. It was then discovered that a case of murder had been opened after (the) body of a woman was found in an open field,” said Makhubele.
“The suspect has been hiding since the discovery of the body. He is expected to appear at Germiston Magistrate’s Court facing charges of murder.”
