Earlier this year, Meg Lanning guided the team to their fifth T20 World Cup victory after defeating Team India in the grand finale by 85 runs. Since that triumph, her team has not got a competitive match because of the pandemic. Therefore, the Aussie captain was hoping for the World Cup next year but the suspension of the tournament had disappointed her.

“No doubt we were disappointed the World Cup got pushed back by a year; we were gearing up for that as a bit of light at the end of the tunnel but at the same time we understand the decision. There’s so much that goes into those things and probably a lot we don’t know or understand and that’s the decision the ICC has made,” Meg Lanning was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
