UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs Harris

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rounds off a seven-day festival with a Fight Night event in Jacksonville, Florida headlined by veterans Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris.

SuperSport will broadcast the preliminary card and main event with the action getting underway at 00:00 on Sunday morning (Saturday night local time).

“We’ve been in camp for a few weeks now, and I cannot wait to get back in the Octagon,” said Overeem.

Overeem is still smarting from a KO defeat at the hands of Jairzinho Rozenstruik in December last year, where he feels he was robbed.

“To me, it was a win, because we beat him every round,” Overeem said. “The referee should not have jumped in. I was not KO’d. I stand back up, it was two seconds left, three seconds left, one second left – to me it was a win. And I always fight for myself. Of course, you have fans, it’s great, of course, the money is great, but I fight for me, and I see it as a win.”

Harris missed the scheduled meeting between the two in December after the disappearance and death of his stepdaughter. He says he is trying to stay focused on the fight.

“I’ve been through a lot of things in my life. It’s just part of it, man. I think god does things on his terms, so I don’t get stressed out about things,” said Harris.

“I just try to do my best to stay ready and stay focused and be ready when my number is called. It’s part of the process and my journey to the UFC – ups and downs. It’s nothing new. I stay focused and keep going.”
