SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A woman was shot outside a hotel at the San Francisco International Airport on Monday evening, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Officers responded at about 8 p.m. to reports of gunshots at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at SFO, located at 55 S McDonnell Road and found a woman suffering from injuries caused by a gunshot.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Investigators later determined there was no active shooter, and in fact, the shooting occurred “near the roadway and not inside an airport building.”

There were unconfirmed reports the incident may have been an attempted carjacking but the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made and so far, there is no information about a suspect.

SFO tweeted that airlines were given the okay to deplane after 10 p.m.

“I’ve never had any concerns with safety at SFO. I mean seeing the footage of what happened and the fact that someone was hurt, that’s a real fact, but from personal experience, I’ve been in and out of here a couple dozen times,” said passenger Dane Huling of Oakland.

“I don’t think there’s too much of a violence around the airport specifically, but stuff just happen at random,” said Daunte Watts of San Francisco.
